Otley Primary School is delighted to announce that we have been awarded a Local School Nature Grant, thanks to players of the People's Postcode Lottery. Our pupils will be benefiting from 3 large recycled wooden planters which will be used to increase our vegetable garden. In addition, staff will receive training to help children learn outdoors. Pupils played an important role in applying for the grant and selected equipment that they felt would benefit their peers. The equipment was decided upon by the School Eco Council after much discussion and a democratic vote. The project is run by Learning through Landscapes and funded by the Postcode Local Trust, which receives funding from players of the People's Postcode Lottery.

The ouside appartus is now complete and the children are busy enjoying it at lunch

and playtimes.  Thank you to all those peolpe who voted for our school in the Tesco

Bags of Help scheme. With all the help from people who voted for us we received

the maximum grant of £5000. This grant was specifically for the purpose of purchasing

new outdoor play equipment. The remainder of the apparatus was funded by the Sports

Premium. Every year since 2013, the school has received a lump sum from the government to improve the opportunities of school sport and physical education and to make the children physically active as often as possible. Through careful planning and budgeting we have managed to use this funding to provide more apparatus and an all-weather surface for the children to be able to use the apparatus all year round.
